Great Spanish DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 mix--Alberto Iglesias's score sounds amazing on this Blu-ray! I'm surrounded!

Spartacus (1960) 4K:
1. My first DTS-X disc. When you hit the Info button on your Marantz remote, the left side showing the Input just says "DTS-X" rather than the usual speaker layout. Never seen that before.
2. The new surround mix is alright considering the movie is 60 years old and also that the surround channel was originally mono. Nothing that'll knock your socks off but OK (score, rain). There's a reasonable amount of hiss in the audio (I had it up pretty loud) but it's never distracting.
3. Some decent lows from battering rams and the score.
4. Superb picture restoration. It's probably never looked this good. Colour and detail are excellent.
5. Well worth the upgrade I says. Some interesting extras including a yap with Kirk + Peter Ustinov doing an impression of a car with a flat battery trying to start - hilarious!

Are the two movies connected sequel? Looks interesting based on reviews for a double purchase.

Markie, both movies contain elements of Pagan rituals, most especially Midsommar but Hereditary is one of those slow burn modern horror movies which is unique and downright creepy in its execution. Both are what I'd call 'unsettling!' Here's the highdefdigest review for Hereditary [now available for $5 @ AmazonUS]

Interestingly, i prefer the Spanish DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 mix to the alternate 5.1 mix on this Blu-ray. I'm not alone:

GREAT! I did say All About My Mother MAY be my favorite . . . it was a photo-finish with Mujeres al borde . . .

I had never seen this film sober, and i had never experienced it in surround--WHOA! The DTS-HD Master Audio is absolutely amazing throughout! Surrounds are active and wonderfully utilized from beginning to end. Simply STELLAR! So glad i rewatched this! Highly recommended! As is To Be Or Not To Be (though that classic is in glorious mono!)

Speaking of KINO LORBER, I watched this 1986 KL 4K 'remastered' Steelbook version of RAWHEAD REX which I had never seen before. I will say the video was absolutely stunning and the audio 5.1, although not the height of discreteness was adequate for this low budget horror movie. Bought it during KL's recent Black Friday sale for under $16 which is a far cry from Amazon's current price of $38!

Dunkirk 4K has a great surround track. I've heard it on my 5-speaker system but still great!
Blues Brothers 4K is also a winner, with a much better surround track than the regular blu-ray (DTS lossy).
Crash 4K (Arrow) is also good.

I'm looking forward to watching Tenet and Apocalypse Now in 4K. Will report back.

Of course, all I'm talking about is my impression of the surround track, neither the video quality nor the film quality.
