Boy Howdy it seems some folks here are wringing out every bit of fun that could be in this thread with pedantic minutia:

Good to see your post paligap. The disc is now a bit more expensive... Unions and West Virginia are not the keywords that would make me click on Netflix if it was there. But really this looks (reads) good & I will check it out. Please tip off any more recommendations.

The Brother From Another Planet
Great premise: Joe Morton (in a stellar non-speaking performance) has escaped from a faraway planet, and he ends up in Harlem (after crash landing on Ellis Island!). Although the Harlemites are initially put off by the alien's inability to speak, they are impressed by his mad skills (he can fix and heal things with the touch of his hands); they adopt him as a brother and protect him from his interplanetary white bounty hunters (one of whom is played by Sayles). A wonderful, subtle, and brilliant conflation of comedy, sci-fi, and social commentary (well, it does get a tad didactic at times). The cinematographer is none other than Ernest Dickerson, who would soon team up with Spike Lee. This is a low-budget, independent film, but the transfer looks good on my old DVD, and it showcases Dickerson's lyrical cinematography. The soundtrack is Dolby Digital mono, and it ultimately does its job; however, the score is limited by the mono presentation, and that's a disappointment. There is also an interesting, entertaining, and insightful commentary track from Sayles. If you want to hear Joe Morton's voice, i highly recommend his reading of Ralph Ellison's Invisible Man, one of my favorite novels.

Persepolis
Adapted from Marjane Satrapi's autobiographical graphic novels (!) (Satrapi also co-wrote and co-directed with Vincent Paronnaud), the film is a very engaging, refreshing, unique, sometimes surreal telling of Satrapi's coming-of-age during the Iranian Revolution. Check the reviews below for a more in-depth explanation of what this film covers–it is a very personal and very powerful tale. I checked out both the French and English Dolby TrueHD 5.1 surround tracks! The voice acting is great in both (something i'm not really accustomed to), and the surround mix makes wonderful use of the whole sound field throughout; the battle scenes and the use of music (from ABBA to Iron Maiden!) are especially well-done. This film is a most welcome addition to my collection–Highly Recommended!

No matter your opinion of Michael Bay's 2005 big budget SF film The Island (swings wildly from dystopian fiction in the first half to hi-octane special effects set pieces in the second half), the Blu-ray has one of the best, most dynamic soundtracks I've ever heard. All the audio elements, foley mixes to sound effects and music, are gorgeously well balanced. From a whisper to a scream, the vocal clarity is perfect, and the thunderous action scenes are wall-shaking with nary a bit of distortion. Truly a reference quality surround soundtrack.

Bless Kino Lorber for resurrecting this Edwardian drama from the forgotten annals of Cinema 'dustbins.' A heart wrenching drama centering around the Upper and Lower classes of British culture. Though some may balk at the ending, IMO, how else could it have ended? Sometimes reality does SUCK! [Kino Lorber/BD~V/Dolby Surround]

FYI: "In a very perplexing decision, Scorpion has encoded only a DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Dual Mono mix (2007 kbps, 24-bit). The film apparently did receive a stereo mix for cinema exhibition back in '88 and Scorpion's DVD was even rendered in Dolby Stereo. I had to turn the volume up on my Onkyo to a very loud pitch in order to hear the British dialogue clearly, even in more confined settings like the Narracombe's house interiors. Scorpion doesn't even include any subtitles or captions."

The above is from this review:

After 1988's uproariously funny COMING TO AMERICA I had high anticipation for COMING TO AMERICA 2 but considering the budget and who's who of talented Black Actors I only found it MILDLY AMUSING but it does sport a wonderful 5.1 discrete soundtrack and is broadcast on Amazon Prime in 4K!

I was knocked out when I saw this on release, and one that bears repeat watching for me.
Lots of good character actors in this one.
First time I noticed Gordon Clapp, David Straithairn, and the great Chris Cooper.

Trivia:
The teenage son of boarding house landlady Mary McDonnel is played by singer/songwriter Will "Bonnie Prince Billy" Oldham.

I upgraded my DVD copy to Blu-ray–one of my all-time favorite films from one of my all-time favorite directors!

The Lady Eve
One of my great fears with comedies is that, upon revisiting them, i won't find them nearly as funny as i once did; not a problem with this gem from Preston Sturges! One of his best, and he wrote and directed some truly marvelous movies! This film has never looked better to me, and the mono soundtrack, although it does show its age, does its job with the ridiculously fast and funny dialogue (i still marvel that some of this made it past the boys at the Hays Office!). Barbara Stanwyck, costumes by Edith Head, never looked more lovely. Wonderful extras, as well. If you are a fan of screwball comedies, in my less-than-humble opinion, this one is a MUST OWN!
