Glad you liked the sound but I had to agree with the multitude of reports elsewhere stating the opposite. Highly compressed, level slammed audio with the dialog track way too low in the mix. The sound made it unwatchable for some people. Cool movie idea-wise though and it looked good.

Interesting.

My first listen through was at low levels and I did find myself engaging my Dynamic EQ +DB as well as increasing my Dialog Level Adjust +1db. Perhaps indicating a dialog track way too low in the mix. However, it's not uncommon for me to have to increase the Dialog Level Adjust when listening at low levels. I suppose a weakness in my system.

The second time through was at near reference levels as I find that allows one to really experience the surround mix of a movie. I turned all that off and had a really enjoyable experience with no additional adjustments needed.

It's unfortunate that the multitudes found it unwatchable. Mostly I just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Why would anyone want to watch a 6 hour miniseries about a deadly virus which obliterates 99% of the world population during a corona virus pandemic which doesn't seem to want to go away? Easy, especially when the teleplay was authored by the Man himself, Stephen King based on his sprawling novel THE STAND and features a cast to die for, sturdy direction, a fantastic upgraded transfer and Amazon's blow out pricing of $7.99!

Admittedly, I have never read King's opus nor have I ever beheld CBS' 6 hour miniseries televised over 4 nights in 1994 but halfway through, I am absolutely riveted by the sheer twists and turns and current relevance this mini epic holds in today's unfortunate state of affairs.

If you've never seen Stephen King's THE STAND, Paramount home video's 2019 BD~V release with upgraded special effects, superb remastering and yes, a Dolby Digital 2.0 soundtrack which decodes in 5.1 through my receiver with surprisingly robust sonics is a RARE TREAT.

VERY Highly Recommended!

Just watched this moving documentary on Blu-ray in surround
View attachment 60787
Since the documentary is about Japanese composer, Ryuichi Sakamoto, the 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack really comes alive during the musical performances, clips from films he has scored (Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence, The Sheltering Sky, The Last Emperor, The Revenant), and studio play. But the real gem here is a 65 minute film of a concert presented in amazing, discrete surround sound:

"Ryuichi Sakamoto: Async at the Park Avenue Armory"
(65:10, HD) is a 2017 concert with the celebrated composer, who dazzles the crowd with a rich, unpredictable soundscape and use of a psychedelic LED screen to help create mood. The program is presented with a 5.1 DTS-HD MA sound mix.

There's an interview with Sakamoto about his new piece, Time (a sort of sequel to Async), in today's Times. Try opening the link in a private browser tab if you don't have a sub or if you've exceeded your allotment of free articles.

The same writer interviewed Sakamoto about Coda a few years ago:
