After releasing the Chora 806, Chora 816 and Chora 826 speakers back in September 2019, Focal has completed the line-up with the Chora 826-D – the first loudspeaker from Focal with Dolby Atmos technology built-in. CES also sees Focal launch of a Chora Center speaker, Chora Surround rear speakers, and a meaty new Sub 600P subwoofer.

Chora 826-D, Chora Center and Chora Surround join the existing Chora line-up and are designed specifically for Home Cinema use at an affordable price. The Chora 826-D is the reference product of the range and is the first time Focal has incorporated Dolby Atmos technology in a floorstanding loudspeaker.

Loudspeakers featuring Dolby Atmos technology are called “enabled speakers”. In addition to the speaker drivers on the front, the cabinets incorporate a specific top driver that directs sound upwards, so the sound is reflected around the whole listening room. This creates the impression that the sound is coming simultaneously from the front, back, and sides, as well as from above. The effect is great for reproducing the sound of helicopters hovering or bullets flying over your head, creating an immersive 3D soundscape.
