I gave it a 6 but that is with the directions that Cai mentioned. Much better with the center channel gone.Cai Campbell said:It's a shame since I really enjoy this album. Unfortunately, the best I can muster is 5 points. I would give it 8 points as a 4.1 mix (just disconnect the center speaker).
(DVD-A)
Well, the mix is not the best, the instruments could have been given more room, and the rears are mostly the LOUD crowds (firecrackers and all), although the drums are the best sounding and more spatially distributed.
BUT, it is great having this in Hi Res.
Mind you, the relatively sparse instrumentation would really not lend itself to a much wider surroundscape, and since I don't have a "Center Channel" Speaker, I can't tell the difference about what was discussed above.
I gave it an 8!
8. I rated it before reading the Kapn's post. Everything he said I agree with. I do have a center channel, and it was misused here. Still, the album is so damn good that I give it an 8, just for the music and having it in hi-res. My back cover is upside down, too. I assume they were emulating the original album cover.
it sounds so much better in DTS, That was a big dissapoinment to me in dvd audio, I expected much more.
I have the sacd versikn, and there the frotn and back are rotaed a quarter, so when you open it you have a full picture of Mr. Frampton. Looks a bit silly at first sight, but the idea is well thought.oh and has anyone else's DVDA back cover insert been printed upside down??
