$78 incl shipping and tax...that's not too bad. I'll wait to see if an online retailer like Amazon will have it cheaper though.
Just ordered for $76.15 total. That’s $38 per album in hi res stereo, 5.1 and Dolby Atmos. More than reasonable as far as I’m concerned. Merry Christmas to me!

PRE-ORDER is UP!

Killer prices too. I am getting the 2 T-Shirt bundle!

Totally reasonable price for the set itself, even if S&H is a little high. Ordinarily I would wait for a lower price (and free shipping) from Amazon, but in this case I'd like to send an early signal of support to the Zappa folks.

As my PayPal charge went through, though, I noticed that the payee was actually UMG, and I remember reading bad reports of slow shipping and bad customer service from the Universal store in the past. Hoping they've cleaned up their act.

Here is a link to a more comprehensive description of the set.

It answers the question about who mixed it:

"The Waka/Jawaka and The Grand Wazoo albums themselves will be presented on Blu-Ray Audio disc in a variety of exciting listening experiences featuring new, first-time-ever immersive Dolby Atmos and Dolby Digital True HD 5.1 surround sound mixes, mixed from the original multi-tracks by Erich Gobel and Karma Auger at Studio 1LA, and 96kHz 24-bit high-resolution stereo remasters, mastered by Doug Sax with Robert Hadley and Sangwook “Sunny” Nam at The Mastering Lab in 2012."

Looking at the disc listing, I really like the idea of not including the stereo remixes and remasters on CD. Instead, they include 4 CD's of alternate material! I'm buying the box for the surround mixes, and am personally less interested in the remastered stereo (although you do get these on the Blu-ray). But I'll sure dig into the alternate takes and live material!

I am spinning these for the first time since .. I don't even know when; probably the release of Jazz From Hell. Man have my musical tastes changed over the years.
These are great!
I will spot it until the end of the month to show up on other sites and then order.

Been a FZ fan since I was a little kid (drummer since I was 6). At around 7 years old in 1975 and already into music, was into The Who, Grand Funk Railroad, Three Dog Night, The Rolling Stones and a lot of other music at the time, my uncle gave me about 7 or 8 Zappa LPs to listen to including Hot Rats, Weenie, Fillmore, ('), Overnite, Waka, Wazoo. I loved it all from the very start of ever hearing it all. I've never been the same since then. From that moment on no matter what other type of music I listened to, jazz, KISS, Iron Maiden, Slayer, Venom what ever in my teen years, it always went back to FZ. During the late 70s on I bought every record when they were released and never stopped! Then came mid 80s and the FZ live show tape trading......

I mentioned earlier that I was going to wait with ordering because maybe some other retailer would offer it more cheaply, but I caved and I pre-ordered anyway.

I received an email confirmation that read, in part,
“Frank Zappa is fast at work getting your order ready,”

Should I be scared? Is the Zomby Woof going to do it to me up of the roof?

I have a similar experience and look back at the guy who turned me on to Zappa as patient zero! He’s on his own separate list for me! I can list my top 5-10 bands and Zappa isn’t on that list because he’s Zappa!

I was lucky, my parents were young and cool and I had the older uncle who was like a big brother I never had. For instance my dad saw Black Sabbath, Humble Pie and Mountain in 1971 at the Spectrum in Philly. I remember my parents also went to Isaac Hayes at the Latin Casino in Cherry Hill around 1972 or 1973.
Dad and Uncle started taking me to concerts at 9 years old. KISS in Jan 1978 being the 1st. Then Boston and Sammy Hagar in October 1978. The Who in 1979, Jethro Tull 1979.
