i sat down to compare the modern day SACD/DVD-A/HFPA BD Glixman/Harris 5.0 mix to the Quad and oh dearie me did the Quad piss all over the newer mix.

Downrated to a "7" (and that's being generous, the surround aspect of the newer mix is virtually non-existent even if the sound quality is superior).

I’ve always thought the same thing and not surprised.
I’m pretty much in line with you, @steelydave & @neil wilkes with their thoughts.
I think that’s why the DV titles (in general) are so well respected, they don’t try to “modernize it” and fix what’s not broke.
The old Quads have a hard time gettin’ any respect.

FWIW: Josh Mound's Valentine's Day "Mini-TBVO" of Let's Get It On comes down in favor of the Darcy Proper stereo mastering that was used on the SACD, DVD, BDA, and many download services.
