Sorry, nope.:(

But you know me.......I'm still hoping for some of the many" shelved " withheld quad mixes, like Jeff/Jan Hammer, Elton John Madman, etc, etc.etc. !!

Most especially the ones we don't know about, or are suddenly surprised with, such as the 2 Gentle Giants, Zappa, or any other mystery quads.
Those are the ones that "blow my skirt up". :smokin

Many Japanese MOTOWN QUADS on hand then (77/78 ?), great prices as well.

There's just gotta be some in those locally used record shops, Freddems.:upthumb

Do any of those UK catalogs have listings of the Precision Tapes Q8's? They were owned by (and released all of the) Pye quads, as well as licensing and releasing Q8's in the UK for A&M, Vanguard and others. It would be a real asset to have a complete list of everything they produced.

No sorry, Dave.

They never listed any Q8'S whatsoever. Too bad, I could have used the EMI Q8 from ELO if I had known it was available back then.

And I missed out on DEAF SCHOOL'S-2ND HONEYMOON CD-4 disc as well, again lack of info back then. There was no Schwann's Europe, so a lot of titles got by me.
They had most of the MOTOWN/AVCO CD-4'S at one point and lot's of stock, multiples. But I never saw the RARE EARTH disc I wanted.

They had great prices, though. Probably only one or two bucks more per item.

Some listings/prices from Quadrophonic Record Center.

Note the large #'s of MOTOWN and likewise CD-4 Japanese discs they had, this list is from 1980.

A bit of quad on laser.:violin

Now it's worth noting that Pioneer did not use Dolby MP matrix encode but utilized SQ encode for the most part , or so it was said back in the mid eighties.
(I wonder if they-Pioneer , had their own SQ ENCODER ?)

My daughters were young then and practicing their penmanship. (As to the above scribble on the covers)

Some of the equipment offers from those mags. Keeping "surround" alive through the late 80's.:sun

A Fosgate 101A for only $307. Whew, what a dream! Notice that the Model 3601 is $200 more than the 101A, probably because it could do more things. My how history has turned the tables on valuation.

My jaw dropped too, when I saw the price for that 101a. But already had mine, and didn't really need two.

However today I might.

I got my Tate for US$51 on eBay. The seller only listed it as a "Fosgate" surround sound decoder, with no reference to "Tate" in the text of the ad. The photos told me everything I needed to know, but they don't come up in a keyword search. Keep that in mind if you are searching eBay for one. Oddly enough, the seller was a funeral home.@:

It needed a bit of work, but Bob Popham (a long-time QQ member and trusted Tate guru from the beginning of its design) agreed to repair it and do a full recap. After repairs and shipping, it still cost me less than half of units I have seen on eBay (that may or may not need major work). Keep in mind that these units are 30+ years old, and will require recapping at the very least. Good luck if they need new Tate ICs!

Copy of a letter from Virgin Records listing quad discs.

And one from Bellaphon Bacillus doing the same.

Bellaphon Bacillus also had a best of with selections from their catalogue, and what was cool about the sampler is that it had a pic of all their artists albums which of course meant the quad discs were pictured with some stereo.Shoulda, coulda, bought it when I had the chance. Oh well.

I have two of them:

Bacillus Selection - German Rock Scene BAC 2024
Mama Rock & The Sons Of Rock 'N Roll - German Rock Scene Part 2 BAC 2025

The latter has the pictures of the covers, with some quad.
