the Natalie Cole and Shirley Horn 5.1's are subtle Surround but sorta befits the material in each instance. Breezin' on the other hand is a rare misstep in his 5.1 work (SACD better balanced than the DVD-A but still not upto his usual 5.1 standards.. the exception being the bonus on the DVD-A only of "Down Here On The Ground" which is the best 5.1 on the disc and is fab) almost everything else of Al Schmitt's surround mixing work i've heard has been excellent, he clearly likes what he knows/knows what he likes/likes what he's doing and does it well. phew! cheers! 🍻
