How do you burn a DVD-A file to DVD?

I tried this method with my OPPO... Along with your (2-channel or multi-channel) lossless LPCM encoded audio stream, you will need to include an AVC encoded video stream. Plus chapters.

TSmuxer 'Open Source' is able to create such muxes.
I downloaded TSmuxer. It's not compatible with my Mac. I'm still running 10.11. This is probably for 10.12 and above.

When I googled how to convert to AVCHD format, there were a bunch of options (allegedly) but I hate to invest in software that I don't know if it will work. Hoping someone has a tested and approved method.

I have never used a PC in my life. But I am sure I can can borrow one to see if it works. Do I have to play the file through a program? Someone mentioned Foobar. And do I play the .iso file?
Foobar will play the iso and also convert the channels into wav files with the proper plug-ins. Much easier than the crazy long method 20 years ago!

Too bad no pc....AudioMuxer can create an AVCHD, it's free but only Windows version.

Like tarkusnj said, Foobar with the proper plugins can play / do a lot of formats including DVDA & SACD .iso.

Now, there is a Mac version of Foobar, but I don't believe it's as developed as the Windows version, but the various plugins probably won't work.,

Thanks for the info. But now it's getting even more complicated. What plug ins are needed? Sorry, I am quite a novice when it comes to this.

I can borrow a PC to try this. Is the process pretty self intuitive? Just drag a file and burn?

In a previous post I mistakenly said "DVD" instead of "DVDA". Sorry for any confusion, Foobar does not play DVD's or video of any kind.
There are two "components" which can be found on Sourceforge. One, for DVDA .iso files is here:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/dvdadecoder/files/foo_input_dvda/
The other is for SACD .iso files:

Now you know why I am not interested in the new formats.

How to use the new formats:

Before borrowing a PC, try installing foobar2000 for Mac, add the DVD Audio plugin (I thought the plugins were platform-neutral?) and see if it works for you. The documentation for installing plugins is right there; it's not too hard.

I use foobar on my Windows machines--haven't tried it on my new MacBook--but the beta 2.5 version for Mac, described as a major overhaul of the program, is quite recent: end of August 2022. (The latest stable version for Mac is 2.3.) If you have a newer Mac, running OS 10.12 or higher, you should be able to install the beta version, and you should be able to get at least 5.1 playback over HDMI to your receiver.

If you really do have to resort to borrowing a friend's PC, then rather than muck about with AVCHD, I would just install foobar2000 (if your friend doesn't have it already), then use it to convert the ISO to FLACs. Much easier playback all 'round. . . .

I'd be interested to know if the DVD-A plugin can be installed on a Mac too. I have the basic setup on an old Macbook at home and as yet I've only used it to play stereo files. not sure where or how to install things on a Mac

AFAIK my Mac Foobar version is extremely bare bones BUT very stable, I LOVE the 5.1 upmix function you are looking for way more

There is no components option as per PC and .ISO results in unknown format. Such a pity
Disappointing indeed. 2.3 or 2.5 beta 10? I had hoped that since they include the "Components" tab without comment on the Mac download page, that meant that component installation would work more or less the same way as it does in the Windows version. Evidently not.

2.3 but didn't know about the beta? I'll try that too
