A question to you familiar with these JT deluxe releases.

I really like Steven Wilson's 5.1-mixes on those, but for some reason I need to lower the surround channels on the last two releases (Wood and Horses) - something I never thougt about for the former releases. The surround channel levels are too high on those two, if you ask me.

Am I alone in this or...?

They do seem prominent, esp. on SFtW. The mix on that one is also strangely EQ'd, with the bass guitar and drums lacking some snap -- Heavy Horses sounds great in that regard, though.

I wouldn't read too much into his comments right now, especially since "This Was" hasn't even been released yet.
The Jethro Tull reissue team has over a year to put together a 40th anniversary edition of "Stormwatch", so surely between now and the end of 2019, Steven Wilson should have a little bit of time to work on this remix, and even if he doesn't, it wouldn't bother me very much since "Stormwatch" is not one of my favorites anyway, but we shall see!

:)

I was really hoping he'd do Stormwatch for consistency, especially as its the last album of that particular line up, after that album the band line up and musical style changed fairly dramatically so that would seem like a good time for a change of remixer to me...

On a plus note, news just in! I work in Pro Audio and I'm friends with SW's live sound engineer Ian. Well, he's just popped in to see me, so I said to him 'When you see SW, have a word about Stormwatch will you!' and he said that SW was working on a Tull remix on the bus, setting up the Logic templates etc. I said 'are you sure?' and he said yes, pretty sure and even said that there were twenty odd tracks on this one too. Now, we know 'This Was' was completed a while ago so it can't be that, so fingers crossed, again!
