The Electric Prunes "Then Came The Dawn, Complete Recordings 1966-1969" is another fantastic box set from Cherry Red. It contains both the original stereo and mono albums. As well as a CD of 45 mixes, rare tracks and extended versions. I listened to the first album which I also have on vinyl. I didn't remember it having all that fake reverb! The mono has a much dryer sound, more like what I remember. The stereo as decoded by the S&IC went crazy and it sounded like discrete quad!

I'm still working my way through the set. "Mass in F Minor" is a real departure from their psychedelic/garage band sound. I would describe Mass in F Minor more as progressive/symphonic not at all garage or psychedelic.

I'm working on ripping these discs right now. They are not in the database yet so I have to input the information manually. All the discs checked so far have an average DR value of 11, so no unwanted compression has been applied, buy with confidence!
