Gotta get this. Big fan. Shot pool with him before catching him live at Empty Bottle in Chicago.

Wow, very cool.

He's a super friendly guy. Way back in mid-late 80's he was in the USA/Canada and the local FM guy knew I was up on him and asked me for suggestions for his interview with Michael.

Next thing I knew I got a phone call "hello, this is Michael Rother"...we chatted a while and as I had recorded some stuff with his Neu partner Klaus Dinger we had a mutual connection, though at that point his relationship with KD was a bit sensitive.

Met up with him at one of his shows in Vancouver (with Dieter Meobius...and I'd had encounters with his old partner Roedelius as well)...Michael recalled the conversation we had those years ago and we shared a few laughs.

I've met several hundred famous folks. Even had a few as neighbors and clients. All but two were gracious and very nice. I won't name them. Both are notorious assholes. One was a future Hall-of-fame baseball player. I ran into him in the elevator in the Palmer House right after I left the Sportswriters' dinner. The other was kicked out of a MEGA band. I could see why.

The greatest were:
Judy Collins
It was a Sunday morning and we got invited to meet her. My kids came along. Judy said hi, and played piano. She said to my (then) 8 y.o. Daughter, "do you play piano?" She nodded. "Come sit at the piano with me." She was terriffied. Judy didn't ask her to play, but played and sang a few herself, while my girl sat at the bench with her.

Herb Alpert
Met him a few times. Always gracious. Seen/heard him live more times than anyone other than CSO, Miles or Santana. When my (later) Husband asked me out on a first date, "Herb Alpert is playing at Park West (Chicago), would you like to go?" He had no idea that I had met Herb a couple times and that he was one of my most favorite.

Anxious to receive Herb's DVD and CD box set. I have a few more stories of when I met him, but I'm pressed for time.

Donovan
Beatlfest. My Daughter was with and he couldn't have been nicer. I got his autograph on my UK Open Road and HMS Donovan CD's.

nicest music star I ever met was Chick Corea
Cool....When I was working for Macy's over the Christmas Holidays last year.....his wife came in and we were talking music and at the time I didn't know who she was and when she said she was married to a musician I asked who....she said I bet you'd never heard of him....I told her ok shoot....I told her I knew him and what bands he performed with....she was blown away about my music knowledge. :ROFLMAO: :bowing:(y)

Speaking of baseball stars...my buddy had some dealings with Roger Clemens...he is a complete douchebag....he booked a travel package from a travel agency and wanted everything "free"...every couple of minutes he would remind them...I'm Roger Clemens.....

My personal experience with a "star"...well I wouldn't call him that...but he's pretty well known...Robert Wuhl...a comedian who was on the same show with Jeffrey Osborne in a casino in Atlantic City in the 80's....I was with a date and we happen to see him after the show...my date wanted to approach him...so we did...she didn't want an autograph...just wanted to say how good he was on stage...he tried to hit on her and then when she told him to forget about it...he stormed off...

She's on Musicmagic on SQ & Quad SACD. CD & 2ch LP, too, if you must.
