I have not been able to find the George Michael atmos mixes in tidal. Even with the tidal ID code numbers Homer posted several pages back. Can anyone share any links that would pull up the atmos mixes in the tidal mobile app or a method to search for them?
Couldn't find them yesterday either, until I got to the post with the links.
Make sure you access them from an Atmos enabled device (probably any smartphone will do). Opening them from a Windows desktop shows the stereo version for me instead.

Faith - https://tidal.com/album/233817844
LWP - https://tidal.com/album/233806998
Older - https://tidal.com/album/233817725
SFTLC - https://tidal.com/album/233817908
Patience (this one was missing from the links provided earlier I think) - https://tidal.com/album/234797404

Alternatively, just type in George Michael in the search bar, switch to albums and scroll all the way down till you see one with the Atmos icon. Just don't go to the artist page since they're not there. Again, needs to be done from an Atmos enabled device probably.

Or if you're using the Tidal downloader, just paste the IDs.

It's ridiculous releases of this calibre are not promoted in any way in the Atmos hub or the artist page.. unless they're doing this on purpose and waiting on the 360RA mixes since it's on Sony?

One thing that not everyone may be aware of is that multiple Atmos mixes may exist, particularly when a standalone track from an album was released and then later on the full album is available in Atmos. Do not assume that the Atmos mixes are the same for the standalone track and the track in the full album. Here are some examples:

Maroon 5 - the earlier mixes of "This Love" and "She Could Be Loved" are not the same as those available on the full Songs About Jane album.

Nelly - the earlier mix of "Ride Wit Me" is much different than the mix available on the full Country Grammar album.

I know that there was some discussion about multiple mixes of a few Supremes tracks, but perhaps it is more widespread. Which leads me to a puzzling question. Why is it that record companies are paying to have multiple Atmos mixes created, in short periods of time, and doing so without any fanfare?

For years, surround enthusiasts pleaded for multichannel releases when few were available. A common reason cited for the lack of surround music pre-Atmos streaming was the cost of creating the multichannel mixes were too great based on the actual physical release sales. I am starting to think that this was total bullshit.

I don't think they're available on Tidal US. I tried with Homer's links when they were released but get a "content no longer available" message. Maybe they're waiting for the super awesome 360RA versions that no one can play to be finished. :)

Yeah I cannot find the atmos mixes, when I click on the links that Alek shared I get a no connection available error. I have a phone that can play back dolby atmos. I also tried searching and only found symphonica atmos. Appreciate the help and explanation!

apple only prohibits upmixes from stereo, they mention nothing about upmixes from existing 5.1

this is the issue, when you upmix from 5.1 where are you going to get discrete elemnts to put in the heights, they have to come from the 5.1 elements that have already been mixed so they are always going to sound less discrete than from the masters

In movie upmixes from 5.1 to Atmos there are techniques called cut and paste (to tops), where certain elements are taken out of the tracks and pasted as overhead onjects. I was telling Larry Fast this.

Still available and working in Atmos here in Spain.

Oh, so that's why they didn't promote them anywhere...

They did mention Filipetti is working on 360RA mixes on JD Management so either there's a delay or something went awry.
Wonder why they even bothered releasing the Atmos mixes in Europe then. Not that I'm complaining but there's definitely something strange going on with these like the disappearing Atmos mix of Space Oddity.

Tell me if I should have posted this question someplace else:

From my time in QuadrophonicQuad, I have noticed that there is very little shared about the music, the making of it, and how multi channel playback gives better understanding of the instrumental parts. Are there parts of this Forum that discuss that more?

@sjcorne is always posting good stuff but this made me think of the Bruce Soord interview he posted recently. Bruce Soord IAA Interview
Also @humprof posts stuff in that realm
I think the general place in this forum is here:
https://www.quadraphonicquad.com/forums/forums/surround-artists-engineers-producers.85/also a lot of the XTC threads have had this kind of content.
:)

Honored to be placed in that company, but I think @sjcorne and @steelydave and a few others are much better at explaining both the technical aspects of various surround mixes and how those mixes affect what you hear musically--especially with respect to things that might have been buried in pre-existing stereo mixes. There's no central location for that kind of thing, although I agree that the section of the forum that @popshop pointed you to is one good source. Individual poll threads (notably those for XTC, yes!) are another. Some reviewers go into great, illuminating detail about such things.

Diamonds appears to be back in Atmos..!! 🤩💎😍

https://music.apple.com/gb/album/diamonds-deluxe/1422632224
