Celine Dion : "Falling Into You"
(Apple Music; ATV 4K; 5.1.2)

well, well, well.. (3 holes in the ground) its been absolutely yonks since i last played the old Celine Dion Hits SACD (that i picked up on holiday in Scotland second hand for about a quid and still felt ripped off! ah i jest, it paid for the holiday, no it made the holiday! 😂)

this new Atmos presentation already feels more Surround-y than i remember anything on that old compilation being (will check the SACD at the weekend to make sure i'm not misremembering) there's stuff here that's very obviously in the Heights that works in the mix, i'm noticing percussion type things, some rather sultry ooh's and aah's in the Heights and equally seductive stuff popping up in the Rears.. better than i was expecting for sure! 👍

Nothin' but LINKS
*let me know if these don't work please

Prince & Robert Plant/Alison Kraus is only one song.

FYI, Midnight Love is the SACD 5.1 mix.

IINM, seems the Classical flood gates have been opened on Apple TV 4K for Atmos albums? @humprof
For real. I posted some personal faves in the classical thread (copied & pasted below) a couple of weeks ago, but a lot more has dropped since then. I can't keep up!

Donno whether any of the bigger--and more knowledgeable--classic-heads have Atmos rigs...?

No links here, I'm afraid--you'll have to search:

  • John Adams, Must the Devil Have All the Good Tunes?
  • Konstantin Reymaier, The New Organ at St. Stephen's Cathedral, Vienna
  • Mahler, Symphony No. 3 (Vienna/Boulez)
  • Mahler, Symphony No. 8 (LA Phil/Dudamel)
  • Mahler, Das Lied von der Erde (Shanghai/Long Yu)
  • Nadine Sierra, There's a Place For Us
  • Stile Antico, The Golden Renaissance: Josquin Des Prez
  • Vikingur Olafsson, Johann Sebastian Bach
  • Vikingur Olafsson, Mozart & Contemporaries
Warner Classics:
  • Mahler, Symphony No. 2 (Berlin/Rattle)
  • Schubert, String Quartets (Alban Berg Quartet)
  • The Immersive Experience (sampler; London Phil/Gernon)
Indie Labels:
  • Caroline Shaw/So Percussion, Let the Soil Play Its Simple Part
  • John Luther Adams, Lines Made By Walking (JACK Quartet)

yeah, should have at least piqued the curiosity of cats like @ubertrout @Lute @4-earredwonder;
dunno if Kalman would be into it at all though

now this is more like it!! lovely and discrete but very cohesive mix. doesn't appear there's a ton going on in the Heights but they add something for sure and the Rear contents divine ❤

Last night I was checking out this title that Freddie Boy mentioned and also found it quite good; noticed there were a lot more in the Latin section that might be very interesting!

Now if we can just get that Classic Rock stuff to pop out like the Classical is doing... oh boy oh boy oh boy!!!

Pretzel Logic anyone?

Highlights (for me) among the newer titles I glanced at this morning: still more Mahler symphonies, lots of Julia Fischer on Pentatone, John Luther Adams's Arctic Dreams....

Sampling this one now Pups:

Just a man and his piano...

Vikingur Olafsson, Mozart & Contemporaries

Mainly reverb and echo from the rears etc.

I appreciate it's tricky to get much else from one instrument.

Bit like the Atmos mixes for the Jazz abums....virtually non-existent!!

And really what else can we expect with that kind of performance? I'm OK with it in that instance; like the Kaori Muraji Classical guitar stuff.
