The classic jazz album "Somethin' Else" by Cannonball Adderley with Miles Davis, Art Blakey, Hank Jones and Sam Jones from Super HiRez. Mastered for Stereo DSD Download from the Original Analog Master Tapes by Kevin Gray. Outstanding sound quality.

This is a really good one in Stereo Direct Stream Digital (DSD). It includes a flamenco styled take on Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit".
The arrangement and Benson's guitar playing on "Theme from Summer of 42" is also excellent. Recommended !

How's the tape noise on the DSD? I'm finding the PCM to have quite a bit of noise in the quiet parts and I'm curious if they did a better job on the DSD transfer vs the PCM.

Thanks, /ben

There's a little hiss at the start of Theme from Summer of 42 and El Mar, but that's about it on my system with the Stereo DSD Download of White Rabbit.
Sounds really good.

Classic Album by Creedence Clearwater Revival featuring I Put A Spell On You and Suzie Q in Stereo DSD. Mastered by Kevin Gray and Steve Hoffman from the original analog master tapes.

Do you have the SACD, the download, or both? Would be interesting to compare them. It's not a particularly good sounding SACD. I haven't heard the download.

I do have both but haven't done a shoot-out. I can say that the songs on the self-titled album feature some "wide stereo" mixes vs. other CCR albums where the Stereo mix is narrower - and in some cases - almost non existant.
An example on the CCR album is song "The Working Man". Sounds pretty mono here. "Get Down Woman" is almost in the same category separation wise. All of the other tracks feature some very wide stereo.

Overall, sonically I like the album as a Stereo DSD Download - especially the tracks "I Put A Spell On You" and "Suzie Q". But then again, I do like wide stereo! :)

A rock classic from 1968. Remastered from the Analog Master Tapes in the Capitol Records vault by Robert Vosgien at Capitol Mastering Studios to Stereo DSD.
Brings back some memories. As they say on the Super HiRez web site, "And Don't. Forget. To Boogie." :)

I've found this one tempting, but sure is expensive. Amphetamine Annie is one of my favorites. And there's those Quicksilver ones too. Yea, could get all 4 for $100.

Don't have the Quicksilver ones. But the two by Canned Heat are a real treat. Recommended.

Canned Heat with the Owl,,it don't get better than that!!!!
Sorry , but "Marie Laveau" is THE SONG here (with Dr. John on piano!)

I got this new a few years ago (a repressing mastered by one of the big names too, I forget who it was!) and it sounds LOVELY!!!

I picked up both of the Canned Heat DSD Downloads created from the Original Analog Master Tapes. Excellent !

The first solo piano album by Jazz great Bob James. Recorded at Sony Music Studios in Tokyo, direct to DSD by Jazz Producer and Sony Music Japan's SACD marketing chief Yasohachi "88" Itoh.
It features 12 tracks that cover a wide variety of standards along with a medley of James' hits including Angela - the Theme from the TV Series "Taxi".

East Wind Imports says "Using the DSD technology, the gorgeous sound of Yamaha's CFIIIS grand piano was captured with astonishing clarity, warmth and reality. This is one of the best-sounding piano recordings I've heard in recent years. Very highly recommended!"
