Mike Keneally MK Question #6 - Devin Townsend + 5.1 Surround

I would be curious how much Mike K. was involved with Devin T. on the Empath album in surround.
As I am not sure what brought Devin T. around on getting into 5.1 as Ryan P. who drummed for DTP was trying to encourage Devin T. to get into 5.1 with the DTP band and nothing came of it. Was that because of you Mike K. or was it it just DT finally came around to 5.1?

Mike K. your Sluggo album in 5.1 is very well done.

“I don’t know about Devin’s past history with surround, I thought he’d done some previous releases in 5.1 but maybe I’m wrong about that? I didn’t work with him on the surround mix specifically but I did spend a lot of time with him working on the pre-mix (final preparation of all of the files that were then used to do the final mix), but that was in stereo. I think he just felt (correctly) that the density of this music really needed the surround environment in order to flourish fully.
