Mods to 2 channel turntable ?

Just into quad. Have a Pioneer QC 800 pre-amp and a QM 800a amp. I have a Phase Linear 8000 tangential turntable. What is necessary for the turn table to play Quad LPs ?

For SQ/QS nothing, just use "matrix" for RM/QS and "phase shift" for SQ. For CD4 you will need a demodulator and a shibata stylus low capacitance tone arm wiring is also recommended.

For CD4 get a cheap capacitance meter, available inexpensively on eBay to measure cable capacitance. Replace the cables to the turntable with low capacitance cable. I would leave the actual internal tonearm wiring alone. Remove the cartridge to measure the total capacitance, try to shoot for 50 pF or less as measured with the meter. The Marantz CD 400B manual says less than 100 pF but that the demodulator's input is 50 pf already. It might be necessary to shorten the cables a bit to get capacitance down, half the length half the capacitance.
