I posted on FB a Steely Dan snippet and surprisingly (to me anyway!) a reply came back questioning what I'd stated as the first line of the song. I've never given it a moments thought that I had interpreted this wrongly for all these years? Hell, I even played the tune in a band in the mid seventies. The song was Night By Night from Pretzel logic and I'd always heard it as "It's a dangerous life said the Queen of Spain." My mate Dave wrote back and proffered that 'dangerous' is actually 'beggars.' Complete rubbish I thought? So I went back and listened to it a few times on my phone (not at home to hear properly) and it seems to me that the slurred output from Mr Fagen actuually sounds like neither. I'll need to check when back home
