Hello,

I have been playing CD-4 albums on an Akai 100c turntable, with an AT TR440SX cartridge. The stylus has given out, and I find the replacement too expensive. I was wondering if you knew of any affordable CD-4 cartridge options out there.

Thanks

Charles

I use an AT440MLa. It has been replaced by the AT440MLb, which I hear is just as good. It used to be quite affordable at about $150.00, but last time I looked, it had gone up signifigantly, it's now around $240.00 . However, it's an outstanding cartridge. Don't worry about the specs, it outperforms them. It's an Audio Technica cart, by the way.

Thank you so much for your reply. I have had a JVC 5456 for the last couple of years, and I listen to quad every day. I will keep checking the ebay, and a shibata or other CD-4 compatible stylus might come up. Until then, I stick to SQ and QS.
