I recently picked up "Music for Bang, Baaroom and Harp" by Dick Schory's New Percussion Ensemble (gotta love the $1.00 bins at Second Story Books). This was released as part of the RCA "Living Stereo" series in 1958. It features over 100 percussion instruments played by 8 percussionists on the stage at Orchestra Hall in Chicago (as well as piano, bass, etc). I suppose any highly reverberant recording will decode with just about any matrix system. But this one responds particularly well to SQ decoding. At the very beginning of the album, there are drums that march in from the back of the hall. Only with SQ decoding does one get that spacial effect of moving back to front.
