The rationale for asking is that I'm intending to emigrate to Canada after October. I don't have a mobile phone, and my Medicare card has expired, so if Canadian Immigration wants to know if I've been vaccinated, can I show them a printout, or is it all digital?
My understanding is that this information is only available through Medicare via the MyGov website so you may need to renew your Medicare card. I just checked mine and it shows my vaccination. Elsewhere it states that I've only had the first dose

I'm unaware of how you may be able to get a printout and wonder how acceptable that may be as proof for another country?

At this time in the USA I the shots are supposed to be free of charge. I have not heard of anyone being charged for them.
Yes the shots are free. I know a lot of people that got vaccinated and none of them had to pay or provide any medical insurance information.

I mean that if some official asks you to show evidence as to whether you were vaccinated, what would you be able to produce to prove you were. Did you get a hard copy/printout saying you had received the vaccination, or was it confirmed thorough your phone, so you only have digital evidence?

Here in the US we get a "Covid-19 Vaccination Record Card" with the vaccine type, batch number, location of vaccination and date. I doubt a foreign country would rely on that because it could easily be faked.

They might. In the old days we had the smallpox booklets that were equally fakeable. Although we didn't have scanners and printers then.
But you could get the blank booklets. You would just have needed to fake a signature and stamp.
Of course why would you???

In the UK we got a simple little appointment / record card....

Vax Cert Card.jpg

They're not intended as "COVID Passports" though. I don't think the government has decided whether it will implement such a scheme.

they are also fighting about "COVID passports" here too. The horse is probably already out of the barn on that.

Apparently Iceland is for entry. Headed there in about ten days.

In future, expect to have to be tested before travelling to another country, as well upon arrival in your destination country, in order to show you have a negative test. Proof of vaccination status will probably only be valid in your country of origin, upon return, to avoid mandatory quarantine after testing. If you thought security, passport and customs queues were tedious, just wait until you have to navigate the COVID-check queues.

I Don't know about AUSTRALIA ......but in Canada they are issuing Provincial Fully Vax' d cards.
A type of vaccine passport for immunity proof.

I've now gotten both Pfizer jabs and it's been 14 days this last Tuesday for my second jab ....and hopefully my last. Now I need to get that card - for proof of being fully VAXD .
And I had zero flu-like side effects from the 2nd Jab just a bit of a sore arm for 1 day.

The UK is planning for booster jabs in the Autumn-
"The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) has been asked to consider the options for a potential coronavirus (COVID-19) booster programme.
The JCVI’s interim advice is that any potential COVID-19 booster programme should be offered in 2 stages from September, starting with those most at risk from serious disease.
In Stage 1 of a potential booster vaccination programme for 2021 to 2022, the following groups should be offered a booster dose and the flu vaccine from September:
  • adults aged 16 years and over who are immunosuppressed
  • those living in residential care homes for older adults
  • all adults aged 70 years or over
  • adults aged 16 years and over who are considered clinically extremely vulnerable
  • frontline health and social care workers
In Stage 2, the following groups should be offered a booster dose as soon as practicable after Stage 1, with equal emphasis on the flu vaccine where eligible:
  • all adults aged 50 years and over
  • all adults aged 16 to 49 years who are in an influenza or COVID-19 at-risk group
  • adult household contacts of immunosuppressed individuals"

I think I'll get my booster end of November as we can only get it 6 months after the 2nd. My first two were Astra Zeneca, and the booster will be Pfizer or Moderna I believe. Can't book until the NHS (UK Health Service) contacts me. But I've got my flu jab booked a few days before my 64th birthday!

Happy B~DAY in advance, Dunc. I'm overdue for my booster shot and look forward to receiving both that and my annual flu shot. At a 'certain age' one can never be too careful!

So I have been looking for a job for over a year. I was let go due to restructuring of the bank I worked for when they brought in their own people after a buyout. Covid hits and there is this vaccine. I didn't want the vaccine, not because I'm anti-vax. I have never had a flu shot in my life and I am relatively healthy and haven't been sick in years. I decided to get the jab because I wanted to head things off in case I find a job and they require it. I have lived with the last 20 months now doing absolutely nothing different except wearing masks when I have to, masks- by the way that do nothing to keep me safe from Covid (it even says so on the box) and being locked down for a time. Never washed my hands more, never worried about doing anything special except living my life. I am really getting tired of all these vaxxed people who are pissed at the unvaxxed. Since you can get and give Covid regardless of the shot I just want to get back to living regular day to day. I don't care if you wear a mask or got the shot or live in a bubble. If you're scared or unsure, you stay home. I'm tired of mandates, I'm tired of restrictions - I'm tired of all of it.

By the way, First shot no side effects with a sore arm for about 3 or 4 hours. Second shot tired for about a day. Not even a sore arm. No charge for the shots and I went to a Walgreens.

For your sake, Bob, I REALLY wish it was a hoax .... but it's NOT! Good that you got the vaccine at any rate and continue to play the 'mask game.' I find it silly that New York City and its five boroughs has to pay out 100 bucks to get its citizens to take the vax ... but then with all these 'freedoms,' I suppose it's a necessary inducement.

I was as healthy as a horse for many many years, never having fallen for that annual flu shot but then one year I WAS sick 'as a dog' for 23 days from the common flu and thereafter religiously decided to get the flu shot annually and never looked back!

The ONLY way for this covid thingy and all its variants to go away ..... is for everyone to play the game .... because in the end, it will be a WIN WIN for everyone and life can slowly return to 'normal' [whatever THAT IS!]

But until that time, it's here to stay. The Governments of the world are NOT asking everyone to believe in the Boogey Man, the Tooth Fairy or Santa Claus....they're just trying to protect its citizens from certain death or chronic illness from Covid.

That 1918-1920 pandemic was hardly a HOAX..... it killed millions of people and if we can learn anything from the past coupled with the reality that the world's population has more than Quadrupled since then ...... we ALL have to do our part and all it takes is a few jabs in the arm and yes, wearing that silly mask..... which really is effective if worn properly!

We might have different opinions on interconnect cables but I'm with you all the way on this Ralphie.

If I'm right you're in the funeral business ? Then you must see this pandemic from a view point unique to this forum. And not a pleasant one.

First people said the vaccine wouldn't work or was untrustworthy. And then it turned into a pandemic focused on the un-vaccinated. They say masks don't work. But here in Johnson County KS where I live there are multiple school districts. Every other district in the county requires everyone to wear masks at all grade levels. But in Spring Hill, in southern Johnson County, masks are only required for younger students, and were made optional for high schoolers. In addition, the school board agreed to allow parents to sign mask exemption forms — which previously required a doctor’s signature — essentially making masks optional for students districtwide. Guess where covid is rampant among students?

To this day I have never had a definite case of the flu. And I never had a flu shot until my 1st grand baby was born, about 12 years ago. And it's been every year after that. Interestingly I did usually get a massive chest cold & head cold (usually not together) every winter but all this hand washing, distancing, other safety measures I've avoided that as well. Bonus!

For the record I never said it was a HOAX. You do you (whatever that may be) but don’t give me crap for me doing what I feel is correct. Again, I didn’t take the jab because I wanted to. I felt I was being MADE to do it. I can still get Covid. I can still pass it on as well. Good luck to you.

First of all, thanks for getting vaccinated. You’ll probably feel something on the second shot, that was my experience. Grateful I could get it.

I never got a flu shot until last year. This is an extraordinary event not just another flu. We’re all tired of the inconveniences, but at the end of the day we are all connected. My brother died from iit in a nursing home. The vaccination is a simple thing. Like Nike says just do it.
