Hmmm... I don't see that title on the album...☺

As I recall, Sauteed Roachos (1st track on El Roacho side 1) has "don't take more than you need" chant as background vocals. "I'm counting on the Roachos..." How in the world did a Columbia LP get an grey A&M promo sticker on its' back cover? There is a more recent group called "Sons of el Roacho." Then, there's Hal Roach Studios. Coincidentally, I'm looking at a "Screen Director's Playhouse" from TCM last night. It was a 50's TV series from Hal Roach Studios.

Casinos' "Then You Can Tell Me Goodbye" is an earworm of mine. It was written by the late, great John D. Loudermilk, who wrote Indian Reservation, Tobacco Road, and so many others:

Shannon is another earworm of mine. It is about the death of Beach Boy Carl Wilson's dog. Here's one more earworm of mine from Gross, Simone, from his 1st LP:

As to Edison Lighthouse, as mentioned in this thread, there were a few "acts" that were them under other names:

A couple more "one hit wonders":
Sagittarius' "My World Fell Down." Gary Usher and Curt Boettcher released this single and subsequent albums as Sagittarius. A perennial earworm of mine. The "bullfight" sequence is reputed to be from Beach Boys' then unreleased Smile album. Bullfight is NOT on album version! Though uncredited, Glen Campbell sings lead here in this '67 single:

Spirit in the Sky by Norman Greenbaum:

I have 2 versions of this song. I have the 45 which has echo around the line "Coffee or tea, or me". Then I have a version on an album titled "20 Explosive Hits" which has a bunch of assorted songs. This version (and the one I listed) does NOT have the echo effect.
Side note: Concerning different versions, I have 2 versions of "Joy To The World" by Three Dog Night one that contains the guitar solo and one that doesn't. I also have 2 versions of "Pictures Of Matchstick Men" one with and one without the Wah-Wah.

Ah so you know The Roach!
I think we're surrounded!
Meant to pull out the record and listen to it today. Might have refreshed my memory about the lyrics.
Yep you can pick up the LP plenty around on Amazon ebay etc. but I can't find it in any digital form or YouTube.

Then there's Clear Light "Black Roses" for the collection.

The turntable video is pretty groovy.

They also had a big hit "Don't Call Us, We'll Call You". The trouble with this thread is that some of us remember one of a bands big hits while others remember others. I fondly remember both hits but prefer this one.
I don’t think there is any trouble with this thread - it’s a fun trip. Thanks for the correction - although I can honestly say I cannot recall this song - I was 21 when this song came out according to the interweb. Evidently a top 10 in the US but ultimately more popular in Canada than the US.

Several of you have asked, rightly so, "what constitutes a one hit wonder?" Ellephino... Chart position? What chart? What country? The questions could go on and on. So, have fun!

S'more wonders:

Deee Lite - Groove is in the Heart
Lady Miss Kier, DJ Dimitry & Towa Tei. Check out Towa Tei's solo work. Techno meets Brazilian!

BW Stevenson - My Maria QUAD!
The two albums on the D-V Quad both rank among my top 100 albums, no matter the format.

Walter Egan - Magnet & Steel
w/Stevie Nicks & Lindsey Buckingham (both not in video)

Frankie Goes to Hollywood - Relax

I’ve been listening to music for 50 years and still today I’ll hear a different version of a song I’ve heard a million times. This one I think was taken off the radio because of its story, It’s one of my favorite!

Jackie Brenston & His Delta Cats - Rocket 88
It was actually Ike Turner & his Kings of Rhythm.
Brenston was the vocalist and sax player in that band.
Generally acknowledged as the first "rock & roll record:"

David Essex - Rock On QUAD!
Here's Essex performing it on Burt Sugarman's Midnight Special:

Mountain - Mississippi Queen QUAD!

Billy Paul - Me & Mrs. Jones QUAD!
