I had passed on this when it first came out, but after seeing the Weller show at Irving Plaza in NYC the other night, I picked this up via HMV Japan as part of the 25% discount offer for 3 import titles - great deal.

The notoriously prickly Weller who has Icon status in the UK and revered cult status in the States probably pissed off all the Jam fans (and was liklely very happy about it) with his version of The Carpenter's "Close To You" on this cover based release named after the studio in Amsterdam where it was recorded. A discrete MC mix is fairly conservative, but effective. Adult based pop-rock - Weller is in good voice here - the 2 biggest missteps are the most well known covers including the aforementioned Close To You and an odd gospel tinged take on "All Along The Watchtower." Otherwise well produced and entertaining - a good find and worth the effort. Overall an 8(y)

Great disc for the price you can get it for these day 1 $ or was that pound ?????
mostly center channel vocal and strange cover versions of old songs.
