Hmm...I want the set of course, and no doubt I will end up buying it, however when I added it my cart without logging in I see the 54.99 with a breakdown of 45.83 + 9.17 (20% VAT) but then after I log in (with my USA address) it still wants to charge me the 54.99 + shipping - shouldn't it be the 45.83? It seems I went through this before with another set and when I asked I was told that that was the price for the USA. Doesn't seem right to me, maybe I'll wait and see what offers come from AmazonUK, DeepDiscount etc before I jump on this one.

It technically will be a remaster because the inverted channels will be fixed, even though the mix itself won't be altered.

Leaving the door open in couple of years time for a re-re-release with a new Steven Wilson 5.1 surround sound mix.

Here it is! Release date is February 21, 2020

The much anticipated deluxe edition of Porcupine Tree's iconic 2002 album.

3CD/Blu-ray featuring remastered stereo and 5.1 surround sound mixes, additional studio recordings, a disc of unreleased demos and a new feature length Lasse Hoile directed documentary, plus 100-page hardback book with exclusive content including photography by Lasse Hoile, Carl Glover, Richard Barbieri and John Blackford from the recording sessions, subsequent tour and more, extensive biographical liner notes and track-by-track commentary by Stephen Humphries, artwork drafts, and handwritten notes and lyrics.

This deluxe version of In Absentia provides an unrivalled insight into a seminal album. The first CD features Steven Wilson's 2017 remaster, which has considerably less compression and limiting for a more dynamic listening experience.

The second CD includes all of the additional finished studio recordings the band made during the period. Collapse (intro), Drown With Me, Chloroform, and Meantime were all recorded during the album sessions in New York, while Futile and Orchidia come from the post-album promo-only Futile EP. Radio edits of Trains, Blackest Eyes and Strip the Soul are also included.

The third CD comprises over 70 minutes of demos recorded at Wilson's home studio during the two years leading up to recording the album. Many of the selections differ from the final versions, with additional sections, alternate lyrics, and different arrangements. Also included are demos of three songs that were not subsequently recorded by the band, all released here for the first time: Imogen Slaughter, Watching You Sleep, and Enough.

The Blu-ray features the new master of the original stereo mix, the 5.1 surround sound mix created in 2003 by legendary engineer Elliot Scheiner, plus the audio from the second CD, all in high resolution audio. It also boasts a new 109-minute feature length documentary film directed by Lasse Hoile, chronicling the making of the album with interviews and archive footage.

Finally! This album was my first exposure to PT. After seeing they would be opening for an upcoming Yes show I would be attending and having never heard of them, I went out and bought In Absentia, which was their current album at the time. From the first listen, I was hooked. But when I got into surround, this title's 5.1 version wasn't available anymore so I never even heard it. Now I'm glad I never bought a used copy because from what I'm reading, there were a few issues with it. And an ES mix to boot!!!!!

I have the dvd audio. I will buy when the price drop
I second that, although Burningshed were hinting at a kind of limited run of the box. But 54 pounds for the content is a bit too much for me, I can live with the out of phase DVD-A too. Boxset pricing is insane lately: look at Bruce Soord's (with a lossy DVD) or REM's Monster. In the end Pink Floyd Later Years box has got more than there times the content of these boxes at barely three times the price. And yet we have King Crimson's amazing sets with tons of material at a reasonable price. And, what drives me crazy, I sometimes pay comparably higher prices for out of print surround stuff in Discogs

Someone over at SHF asked the folks at Burning Shed about how limited the set is and whether they were the exclusive seller - this was the response:
Although they won’t make them forever, there will be plenty of copies for everyone that wants one to get one.

They won’t be exclusive to us.

Does anyone know can I cancel my order with Burning Shed in case this boxset shows up cheaper at other retailers?

From What Snood see here Burning Shed is cheapest so far altho with shipping brings it to 86 here in USA and Amazon UK shipped is 79.88 sooo  https://www.superdeluxeedition.com/news/porcupine-tree-in-absentia-deluxe/

Pop Market has it for 75.99 USA and free shipping for today only 12/19

Thought this was a new 5.1 mix but says 2003 Scheiner mix
Morbidly curious as to whether they corrected the phase issue with the original mix/master. The 2003 mix is great, IMO. Lighter dynamic compression would be nice, of course.
