I have heard quadrophonic already in the 70s (CD4, SQ, QS, ...), although only for professional reasons as a salesman. Unfortunately, the technology did not catch on and was discontinued at the end of the 70s. The attempt to create a spatial sound with the artificial head (Dummy Head/Kunstkopf) at least under headphones also did not succeed for long. A few years ago I sold my long kept JVC 4VN-550 quadrophonic amplifier, to which my heart was attached for a long time.
With the new data carriers such as DVD, DVD-Audio and Blu Ray, it was able to take off again and I'm glad that the 4.0 music is now partly available again on DVD, DVD-Audio or Blu Ray.
I look forward to stimulating conversations!
Best regards
Helmut
