Rare DVD-Audio Promo Discs and SACD Test Pressings

There is a seller on eBay that currently has some very interesting DVD-Audio promo discs. A couple are pre-release versions of Sting - Brand New Day and Marvin Gaye - The Marvin Gaye Collection with artwork variations. There is also a copy of Vince Gill - High Lonesome Sound which I believe was only officially released as a DTS CD. I'm sharing for anyone who collects rare/unusual discs. There may be a Diana Krall disc too.

The seller also has a bunch of SACD test pressings of The Police, Peter Gabriel, etc.

I just purchased from this seller a cool Universal Music Group DVD-Audio sampler that I had not previously seen as it features tracks from Sting - Ten Summoner's Tales and Boyz II Men - II also only available as DTS CDs. I'm looking forward to having lossless versions of these tracks.

Based on what this seller has, I'm guessing that there is a close connection to Universal Music.

Wow, good catch. This guy has 25 pages of mostly interesting stuff. He even has one of the Beatles "Back-Tracks" discs (Unreleased mixes) which is a facinating listen for Beatles fans. I got my two copies (there are 2 versions) at a record show decades ago. These tracks forced the eventual "Anthology" releases.

Anyway, looking at those early Universal DVD-As points to the early days of DVD-A, before the copy protection scandal and Sony splitting from the group to push it's own format. What could have been? We'll never know.

Anyway, great find. This seller will be living at his post office!!

I snagged the sellers scans (Thank you pbspace) of the rare Univesal Promo DVD-A's for archive purposes, although I am sure the buyers of these will be QQ members!

wish I could find one of those Universal DVD-Audio samplers too, been looking for years & years without success, got to be super rare!!

not to detract but High Lonesome Sound did eventually see release on DVD-Audio
(and Hybrid MCh SACD, some years subsequent to the DTS CD release).

Yes, it's hard to find, and I don't even remember how I found mine. It probably was eBay at some point in the past.
