Recording naked

Maybe this has been asked before but, what would it be to record an 8 track tape with no playback equalization, and add eq later to the file.
Since Sound quality varies widely on those carts perhaps eq after the fact could be better customized to file.

BTDT it works. Deutsche Grammophon used this system for the transfer and restoration of the Karajan Beethoven's Symphonies, it was descripted on a video linked here some years ago.
