Sadly Spencer Davis has passed away at the age of 81

Sadly, it was reported that Tony Lewis (bass & vocals) for the ‘80’s band - The Outfield passed away too.

Always thought it humorous that this English band had an American sound and name related to baseball.

Supposedly they initially named themselves after the baseball gang in the movie, The Warriors and then changed it a bit.

Spencer Davis with Steve Winwood played a club that I frequented in 1967. I really missed most of the show but walked in just as they were playing
"Gimme some lovin" . Elder Statesman indeed! RIP!

In 1970, when he was 31, all the local bands were playing these two songs. We thought "Gimme Some Lovin'" was an old song by then.

I got the chance to meet him at a college radio convention in 1978. We sat next to each other for a while chatting. He was so nice to me. I remember calling him a legend and telling him that he should be recording again. He took that all very humbly. RIP SD
