You could use a Synology NAS drive set to store your ripped Stereo and Multichannel DSD (.dsf or .dff) and Downloaded DSD files.
The quality of the drives in a NAS can be higher than the ones in a USB hard drive. It depends on which ones you put in the NAS.

You'd still need a PC or Mac to run the music app if you were using JRiver Media Center.

Ripping SACDs is very easy with an Oppo 103 or 105. Use the instructions here on QQ for that.
No problems experienced here.

I understand that there are NAS drives with sufficiently potent CPUs that will run JRiver or Roon but the user would still need some way to connect the output to his system. No separate PC/Mac is needed. Control via smartphone or tablet is EZ.
