Ok I'm hoping some one will help me out. I bought a Quadraphonic Pioneer PL 55 DX Turntable on eBay http://vintage-turntable.com/pioneer-pl-55x.html it has a Pioneer PC-Q1 cartridge on it which came stock with the turntable and it appears I have the Shibata Stulus. If I don't have the Shibata Stylus I want to buy one on eBay here is a auction for one. eBay https://www.ebay.com/itm/311883048718 my stylus that is in the Pioneer turntable I bought on eBay looks just like this one in the auction I just mentioned. I pulled my stylus out of my PC-Q1 cartridge on the Pioneer PL 55 DX turntable and there are no ID marks on the Plastic stylus housing. I could also buy Shibata Stylus from a member if I infact do not have a Shibata stylus. So will this Shibata Stylus work and is it just a straight swap out of the 2 Stylus if I need one. I would appreciate any help in this matter. The Pioneer PL 55 DX turntable I bought was from this auction there is lots of pictures. https://www.ebay.com/itm/262996547300 and it works well. But I have not tested any CD-4 discs yet because the Quad amp I ordered will not be here for a week. So I'm not experienced enough to know what I have is correct. Any help from a member would be most appreciated.
Thanks

Vinylengine lists the Pioneer PC-Q1 cartridge with a "pathemalcony type" stylus, whatever that is. I have never heard of that, but it could be a way to avoid the Shibata patent. The frequency response is 10Hz - 50kHz, and all of the other specs are the same as the Audio Technica CD-4 cartridges ... e.g. a load impedence of 100k ohms (rather than the standard 47k ohms of most magnetic cartridges). I expect that it might be a rebadged AT design, and as such it could have any of a variety of styli installed now ... and don't discount the fact that it could now have a different cartridge altogether. I wish I could be more helpful. If you could post a photo, someone might have more to say. Does it look like this:

I'm bidding on the same turntable on Ebay now. Did it work out for you with just switching out the stylus? I don't know how to do that or what stylus to get. Wondering what you wound up using.
