I haven't had volume issues at concerts or movies in several years...but I always take earplugs! Silicone swimmers plugs for non-music events like F1 races and musician's plugs for concerts with either my -15dB or -25dB filters in place depending on where I'm going.

Funny, I had read on various forums that Steven Wilson shows are "ridiculously" loud so I took my -25dB plugs only to the show last year in Hamilton, ON - I measured the average volume from time to time at around 110dB which is nowhere near ridiuclously loud. I could have got away with my -15s for sure. And it was crystal clear sound, not distorted beyond the system's capabilities.

If the video for the Soundgarden gig was really good, I'm surprised you wouldn't buy the discs so you could watch them at home properly sync'd up with the real 5.1 track mixed from the 48+ track multis and at a volume under your control. At $14.99 right now on Amazon, seems like a no brainer! I can't wait for the disc, but WTF with it still not being available to order on Amazon CA yet?

My concert days are OVER Markie. Can't take the bombast anymore. When I saw Tears For Fears at our Local Capitol Theater two years ago, the sound was so fu**ing loud I lost my equilibrium and even Steely Dan started off sounding like their Elliot Scheiner 5.1 albums and they kept raising the volume to a VERY uncomfortable pitch.

Louder isn't better ....... IT'S JUST UNCOMFORTABLY NUMBINGLY LOUD.

At least you and VG had a great time in the City of Angels......

But you do recommend the video?
I think I would recommend the video Ralphie the camera work was stunning and clear as clear can be. There are some angles shot from the side stage that are awesome. Now that I have a few days removed from the experience, I think the home experience would be much better because I could control the volume and I have a feeling my 5.1 system is better than there 360 surround system

Today I purchased these Ear Dial. Good reviews, arrives tomorrow, will try Weds night with Santana and Doobie Brothers. It is an outside concert which is not as bad but looking forward to trying ear protection.

Yes. According to Amazon Canada mine will arrive by tomorrow at 8pm but it hasn't shipped yet so I'm questioning the accuracy of that estimation - I hope they're right, I've been champing at the bit for this one since the announcement. Mixed from the 48-track multis, lossless surround track, I already know how good Chris' voice is on the crappy YouTube sneak peak of Slaves and Bulldozers and I'm ready to crank this one in surround on me 4K Panny OLED and relive the amazing experience I had seeing them at the 01.26.13 Toronto show railed directly in front of Chris' mic.

I'm sure given the material, his voice won't be perfect throughout, but this tour was as close to perfect as I've ever seen Soundgarden throughout the 6 shows I saw from 1994 ~ 2014.

Mine was delivered by Canada Post at 8:28am, two mins before I had to leave the house haha. It's gonna be a long 8 hours. Popped it in the UHD drive on the PC before leaving so I could at least check out the DR values (for those that care about that sort of thing) while I'm at work (via TeamViewer).

So I know often DR scores for multi-channel can be deceiving as the surrounds may influence the score and appear more dynamic that what you're actually hearing in the front soundstage (Radiohead - Live from the Basement for example) - but check out the stereo DR score for the PCM 2.0 track of the concert...looks like a really dynamic master! Yay, score one against the Loudness Wars for Soundgarden.

I am finally getting around to listening/watching my Blu Ray copy. I have the luxury of comparing it to the actual audio/video experience at The Wiltren a couple of months ago.
I did not have a good experience at The Wiltren, was half sold, not that many people, video was 3 screens super awesome, crystal clear, the 360 surround sound was horrible for one simple reason, it was mind blowing loud, not enjoyable at all.
Now this Blu Ray captures the awesome video beautifully. The sound in 5.1 in a much more manageable home theater setting is fantastic. Not a discrete studio SW way but a very powerful surround experience, more like a live envelope, if you know what I mean.
Via my home decibel meter I am listening at 79 to 81 decibels, the show was probably 110.
A must for Soundgarden fans and for hard rock live concert Blu Ray fans also.

Just got this as a Christmas gift. Only 3 songs in, but I’m diggin’ it! Great video and excellent front stage centered audio. Saw Soundgarden live multiple time when they first came out in the early 90s and they always delivered the goods. RIP Mr. Cornell!
