(Not really an SQ decoder but closer to that category than any other in this section of the forum.)
The Scheiber-Fosgate DSM-3610
Rarity - Scarce - they come up a few times a year on average
Average Sale Price - $20 - $400
I got mine for $10 plus $10 shipping because I was the only one who bid. Four days later one sold with a Buy It Now for $365 plus $28 shipping. I felt like I made a very good deal.
When discussing quad synthesizers here at QQ, the Sansui VM and Tate 101 and even the Lafayette Composer units tend to get the highest marks, but the DSM-3610 deserves to get attention in those discussions.
Here are a couple of great threads on how the DSM-3610 stacks up against the Tate 101 and Sansui QSD-1 units:
https://www.quadraphonicquad.com/fo...ui-QSD-1-vs-Fosgate-processors&highlight=3610
https://www.quadraphonicquad.com/fo...D-1-vs-Tate-II-vs-Fosgate-3610&highlight=3610
Similar to the Model 4, the 3610 has 4 separate inputs plus a tape monitor loop.
Logic, Center Channel, Mono Enhancement, Sound Stage Width switches next to the Dialog, Surround, IR Sensor, IR Receiver and Input Level indicators.
The rear inputs and outputs. If you read the threads I posted above, you will see that the most attractive aspect of the 3610 are those "side" channel outputs.
The other two Fosgate units I posted today have nice guts, but the 3610 is especially impressive.
Specs and info are also under the 3610's hood.
A surprisingly sparse remote completes the package.
Check at a 3610 if you get the chance. You may be surprised at how well it performs.
