Hi,

I'm planning to get a SQ decoder and play the results via a 7.1 input on my receiver.
Is there any advice for mapping the channels? Front to front is easy. But what to do with the back channels?
Back to surround, back to surround back or both (same levels or different ones)?
And what to do with the center of 7.1? Supply it with Front-L + front-R, leave it alone, or ... ?

Grateful for help,
Hans

If you are willing to get 3 surround-type speakers (small) you can pass the rear channels through an old Dolby Surround decoder (Yamaha-DSR70PRO), send the DS surround channel to the 6th and 7th surround speakers (rear lateral) and the DS center channel to a center rear speaker. My guess is that if you balance it adequately it might be satisfying. Never, ever tried it.

You might want to put the rear Quad speakers to the sides.
