Cafe OTO hosted a quadrophonic album playback evening on the 7th Jan. The music of Sun Ra, played back from vinyl into a quadrophonic away consisting of 16 QUAD ELS57 electrostatic speakers and 8 QUAD 22 valve amplifiers.
I bought some tickets out of curiosity expecting the venue to be empty, but it was packed, with a long queue forming at least 30 min before doors opened. I have no idea whether people were there to hear Sun Ra, hear a big electrostatic speaker array with valve amps, or enjoy quadrophonic sound. Either way it was fascinating to see around 150 people transfixed by the sounds produced. Hard to comment about the sound as i was nowhere near the centre.

That is crazy! And heartening. In dark times, little things like this can restore your faith in humanity...
