• QuadraphonicQuad welcomes you and encourages your participation! Treat all members with respect. Please keep all discussions civil, even when you have a strong opinion on a particular topic.

Do not offer for free, offer for sale, offer for trade, or request copies or files of copyrighted material - no matter how rare or unavailable to the public they might be. We do not condone the illegal sharing of music. There are many places on the internet where you can participate in such transactions, but QuadraphonicQuad is not one of them. We are here to encourage and support new multichannel releases from those companies that still provide them and as such the distribution of illegal copies of recordings is counter-productive to that effort. Any posts of this sort will be deleted without notification.

Please try to avoid discussions that pit one format against another. Hint for new users: make liberal use of the search facilities here at QuadraphonicQuad. Our message base is an incredibly rich resource of detailed information on virtually all topics pertaining to surround-sound. You will be surprised at what you can find with a little digging!

I tried becoming a supporter (the annual option) , but the only payment option I get is through PayPal.

Can we get a credit card payment option as well perhaps?

Last July my PayPal account was hacked and have since closed it and am very leery of opening a new one.
We could do a check or money order:

Just be sure to put your member name on it for the bookkeeper (he wears other hats too, but this sounds impressive). And then let me know when you mail. I upgrade your member account manually then.

I’m in Greece so a credit card card would be the easiest and most convenient....
I’m sure other QQ-ers who are outside of the US will agree as well(those without any PayPal accounts)
Anyone in this situation, send me a private conversation so I can work with you privately. There is a way, just a little more personal and does not need to be out in public. We will get it worked out.

I had to think a bit before donating; heck they are getting revenue from the ads after all .
The ability of the membership to turn the ads off is a big plus.
The thing is, this site is no longer owned by a private individual fronting the bills all by himself (Thank You Mr. Urban!) It's owned by a business, with the intent (I assume) of making a little money. But for those of us that use this site regularly, it's not just a place to kick off your shoes and have a bit of fun, but a unique and powerful place with a deep repository of knowledge to learn specific things about music and related gear. Just the decades of tips and information from thousands of members stored in thousands of posts is a treasury to have, and should be protected if you really enjoy and appreciate what's here. And it's also about the memories and friendships created over the years (it's my only social outlet other than a few close friends.) If the owners don't feel like they are being compensated enough for the upkeep and return of investment; like any other business, it won't be around to enjoy in the future. Now maybe these new folks do care something about music and preserving all this information, but we members need to do our part to ensure it stays open.
Once I thought through all of that, it was a no brainer, I had to donate, for the sake of keeping something I dearly love open and available.

Like Pups ...I too hesitated but this little gold mine is too important to let it disappear into the unknown.
It is my only outlet, for socialising, on the internet, as I like to keep a small a footprint as possible.
I thoroughly enjoy being part of the most knowledgeable, friendly and generous bunch of like minded folk, there is.
It is a pity that Jon didn't instigate this on his watch, I would have felt happier to line his pockets, after all that he did for us.
But there we are, I hope the new owners appreciate our subscription to them and maybe they would like to respond, in some way, to the good folk of QQ.
