Unless the HDR/DV is incredibly stellar - I’ll just let my 4K Oppo do the upsacle from the 2K Blu ray discs (since the series was shot 2K, and the 4K discs are just upconverts).
the original Blu ray releases were already reference quality, too.
If you read the blu~ray.com review I've supplied, the PQ was no better than the BD~V discs but the upgrade here was the addition of DOLBY ATMOS. But according to some of the poster's reviews on the same website, on properly calibrated OLED monitors, the PQ with dolby vision was definitely an upgrade.

Are you certain that none of the later seasons were shot in 4K? If all the UHD4K discs are UPSCALED, that would be a bummer!

Certainly the early seasons were 2K, the only blu ray Release that was on 4K disc (up until now) was season eight. So maybe only season eight was shot in 4K? Not sure.

Most unfortunately, even the Eighth and Final Season of GOT in 4K is UPSCALED, as well. Bummer!

@PodCat I forget, but it was an online article. Would you be able to open an episode from season 3 to test?
Actually there is no direct way to verify an Atmos signal on my equipment. Though my Sony AVR has about 37 different audio indicators, not a one is for Atmos.

It’s getting harder to verify anything anymore — video or audio. My Apple TV 4K will verify Dolby Vision (plus it’s obvious from the much-higher brightness and contrast), but for HDR or HDR+ or even various levels of Dolby Digital, you’re on your own.

No one but Apple or Netflix even makes more than a half-assed attempt to label anything. Amazon Prime has a few movies marked “4K UHD” with no mention of HDR or audio. That would be more helpful than trying to impress us with redundant acronyms (4K is, by definition, Ultra High Definition). Would also be helpful if they didn’t offer the 4K content as separate listings you must search for specifically: Zombieland has a 4K version, but unless you search just for that you’ll get the plain 2K one.

The bluray of this is being pushed at sale prices now I know why.
Honestly this movie sounds a little scary to me.
I have finished a second viewing of Color Out of Space that was pretty intense for me though great treatment of a Lovecraft story.

I’m very curious how this will sell... there are quite a few of us former fans who will probably never watch this series again because of how bad the final season was... honestly, it’s a shame because this series could have gone down as the best television series ever created. I’m happy for the peeps who liked the final season, though!
I'm on the same boat as you, but I confess I'm sometimes tempted to re-watch the first two seasons, before it diverged too much from the books. Will the next book be ever released?

Midsommar is more disturbing than scary and if you subscribe to Prime Video they are currently streaming it in 4K in its theatrical 147 minute version
