I have been waiting a long time for this film to be released on DVD. I have fond memories of seeing it on its initial release in 70mm 6 track stereo sound. I particulalrly remembered the great surround mix it had - especially with the song The Rhythm of Life.
I was therefore very disappointed when I played the DVD. The picture looked great on my 10 foot screen - but the surround sound - there was just none. It says on the cover it is 4.0 surround mix yet for most part the rear channels were silent - some muffled reverb in the overture. Throughout the show stopper number The Rhythm of Life the rear channels remained completely silent.
