Nobody young is buying stereo, or very few young people. They all listen to music on their phones...

Seems like the Stereo mix could become an afterthought, not to mention any sort of Surround mix, since many phone music listeners use the built in single speaker in their phones to listen to music.

What has happened in the last 10-15 years? It was only a while ago when everybody was freaking out about high-end headphones and equipment? At this rate fidelty will die with no way of coming back (except for us hardcore enthusiasts.)

A mono mix would work better on those shitbars too. Avoid the little top and side speakers that try to ricochet stereo and surround channel sounds off the walls and ceiling.

What has happened in the last 10-15 years?

Car radio and boombox listeners have morphed into mp3 and streaming listeners with earbuds. Those of us around here have 24 bit discrete surround sound downloads now. Everything is fine. Don't mind the casuals. :)

Maybe the wall of sound will come back!
This one? ;)

I am also seeing too much mono equipment. I went into a store and most of the "speakers" were Bluetooth and also light up to the music. They had very few speakers that could be wired to an amplifier. They also had mono Karaoke systems.

All of our stores that sold good equipment (e.g. Radio Shack, H.H.Gregg, Karma) are gone.
