My wife and I have been working our way through the second season of The Deuce on HBO over the past couple of weeks, and I can't get out of my head the remix of Elvis Costello's "This Year's Girl" that they used for the opening titles. It's a knockout: apart from added vocals (by Natalie Bergman) and what seems like a slightly tweaked tempo, they really punched up the bassline. (That doesn't come through on the versions you can find on YouTube.) Rolling Stone's account says that Costello and his producer "got hold of the original multitrack master tapes so that [they] could take the song apart and reconstruct it." But evidently they didn't remix it for surround: even though The Deuce streams in 5.1 (the high-def version does, at least), I'm only hearing the title theme in 3.0. If anyone knows anything different, I'd be glad to hear it.
