I even sing that offkey in my mind .. thanks CBmmmmmmmmmm
I think that I'm viewing this thread slightly differently than many of you. I haven't read the original thread so don't know the full details. I suppose that if I paid a premium price for something that was a limited edition and then shortly after saw the exact same thing for sale again, this time not limited and perhaps cheaper I might be upset. If the new offering was also labelled as limited and numbered as well I might be even more upset.I have to agree when something is advertised as a limited number pressing and then later more copies are pressed that is BS. You dont see that in the art world where they created the concept of limited edition prints typically numbered than thats it. But its an artificial limitation to create demand.
Whats next politicians that dont keep their promises.....

Usually what I think of as limited editions only have a small run because it is a somewhat specialised product not mainstream, or it's a special quality version. Numbering the units gives a better sense of that uniqueness. As such I have limited editions of items that are in plentiful supply in other formats or less "special" versions.
My favourite Rough Trade album is called Live! and was a direct to disc LP released as a limited edition. It does not bother me in the least that a CD version of it was released years later and not as a limited edition. That to me does not dilute the value of the "limited edition" LP in any way.
