According to Jazz Times, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. They deliberately avoided ranking, although since they went with chronological order instead, Bitches Brew is first. The only other surround title on the list: Head Hunters (of course). The readers' version only differs by three picks.

I need to check out that Holland title.
Always felt Red Clay was kind of boring.
Good to see the Metheny in there.

I looked up their list for the 1980s and was relieved to see Michael Brecker's first solo album. Man, I can't get enough of that one.

Two of mine were released in Quad back in the 70's. One more got the treatment in the modern era. Formats listed are the Quad versions I've owned.
