I guess it was... but it wasn't really a secret to anybody in the reissue industry..because everytime they asked MCA for a tape they'd comeback with the classic line "we can't locate the tapes"...and it was a line that was really only used after the fire from 2008 onwards and not before...ahhh the fun we had trying to do Jerry Jeff Walker cd's on Raven.(one title took over 2 years to finish in a rather odd way)..I could have said more at the time ,rather than dropping the odd hint here and there ,about what master tapes you'll never see again, but the NYT articles have made it pretty clear now...Basically as a general rule, if it wasnt released on cd before the fire and a request now brings back their classic "we cant locate the tapes" response,then you know you've got problems.
