If the Artists/Engineers/Record Company's could/would just listen to the BUYING PUBLIC and stop filling all these box sets with useless re-printed memorabilia/marbles etc. and just release the box sets with just the DISCS THEMSELVES and maybe a HARD COVER BOOK, and then maybe have a SUPER LIMITED #'ed EDITION with LEATHER BOUND CASE or something like that or even a SIGNED EDITION.....there is where they could actually make a TON OF $$.....they would save a bunch of $$ and be able to sell more at a reasonable price........just for example check out how Rhino do their Quadio sets

It would be SUPER EASY to do......listen up Artists/Engineers/Record Company's!!!

Lets just say you are planning to do a QUADIO LIKE BOX SET

Release a minimalist version with just the discs only......for the masses

Then for the ones who want to read all about the different Albums/Mixes etc....produce one with a Hard Cover Book

Then for the HARD CORE collectors who have BIG $$$ to splurge on something SUPER SPECIAL and RARE and GUARANTEED LIMITED.....a signed edition with the same book bound in leather & plexi-glass slip cover.....now there is where you'd make your BIG BUCKS :D:love::SB(y)

You'd then be able to RECOUP your losses on the MINIMALIST edition with the 2 other sets
 (y) :SB:D

Doing this would also have a very big and great effect on sales of surround equipment etc. once the masses get HOOKED in a big way!!

PS: If any record company executives read this.....I'm available for hire :D :ROFLMAO:

Great idea. I also like the Tull book set thing. (Haven't most of those sold out). It is a wonderful format. I mean Taylor Swift makes 4 versions of her album at base rate. Why not do the Book set at $60 retail, (discount land could blow it out at $39.99). She would have a greater profit margin at that price point a the super fans would buy by the boatloads.

Maybe the DVD/(UHD)Blu-ray business model could be adapted:

Many (most?) programs on DVD/Blu-ray come with a paper insert
with a digital code to provide streaming playback of the program
on "any device", instead, the surround sound mix could be offered
as streamable/downloadable content tied to the purchase of the
program on Vinyl/CD/DVD/Blu-ray physical media.

The surround sound mix could be offered in Dolby Digital and
DTS-MA (for maximum compatibility with legacy Surround Sound
systems).
