Released November 25th, 1974, John Dawson Winter was Johnny Winter's second album of the year (following February's Saints & Sinners) and final quad release. The album didn't do much commercially (only peaking at #78) but it is notable for the first appearance of the John Lennon song Rock & Roll People which he wrote during the Imagine sessions and recorded during Mind Games, but which remained unreleased until the Menlove Ave. compilation. The song found its way to Winter via producer Shelly Yakus, who worked on Mind Games with Lennon and asked him for permission to have Winter record the song.
