Bought another SV-40X with good stylus on the bay.......again the seller did not package correctly and the stylus was broken. It amazes me why it should be so difficult for some people...........Still looking........

Oh....and I stated specifically how to pack it safely and the reply? "I'm on board with that"..........

I have collected a couple of used sn40x /sv40x cart and stylus combo's and one new in the original box . They are out there , but few and far between and usually expensive. I collect Sansui quad stuff so I keep what I find. I bought these to go with the fr 3080 tt's I have. If you are not interested in making a tt complete , you can sub the sn/sv40x with a Audio Technica at12s cart. and a at12s stylus . I got my 12s stylus from lp gear and the cart on ebay. They are supposed to be the same as the Sansui sn/sv40x , just different brand name.

I do have an AT-12S that I use the stylus from. To my ears the SV-40X sounds a bit cleaner than the 12S, but it may just be my imagination. When you get tired of one of yours collecting dust, let me know.....maybe we can work something out.

Information I found on the net says that AUDIO TECHNICA made the cart for Sansui and used the same spec's as the at12s. There might even be some threads here on this subject. I keep mine in a wood box so they don't get dusty. PART_1475507410376_IMG_20161003_080628.jpgPART_1475507372937_IMG_20161003_080834.jpgPART_1475507396556_IMG_20161003_080845.jpg

Yeah, the 40x stylus in the plastic bag was also damaged during shipping. I was pretty upset due to their rarity. The one in the box is nos I picked up on audio karma from a guy in L.A. a few years ago. It has taken my some years to get these. I do have the FR 3080 TT's for the 40x's . My daughter says I'm an electronics hoarder. No , just a typical Sansui junkie.PART_1475531837544_IMG_20161003_145650.jpg

When my daughter leaves the nest, I will be making her room into my audio room and setting all this up to actually use. Had it set up once, but she found out it wasn't so easy out there and moved back in. Thus my dining room became my audio storage. Life!

Yep, still looking for the stylus. Is the stylus on yours blue?
The original Sn 40X stylus body is white and would have 40X (in gold) embossed on it. The aftermarkets I have purchased have came with a white body and 12S printed on it.

These two both have a Shibata stylus as does the SN 40X. Unless you are a Sansui collector, these two stylus will perform just as well and maybe better due to age of the original.

Audio Technica made both the 40X and 12S. The 40X is a custom 12S made for Sansui. No telling what the blue one in the pic is.
I have 2 SV-40X carts without stylus and one 12S with a good stylus. I’ve got a lot of my collection transferred to multi channel waves now so I don’t play the records as often.
