Well, this is not exactly a sale, but it is effectively a discount for any non-resident of the EU:

The German label Audite recently collected the Quartetto di Cremona's series of Beethoven string quartet recordings (SACD 5.0) into an 8-disc box set with a new booklet. (Why didn't they just put them all on a Blu-Ray? Authoring & licensing costs, I suppose.) The standard price from the label is €58.90--already much cheaper than Amazon.com (though not Amazon.de) and considerably cheaper than Presto Classical. Now here's the good part: for orders outside the EU, they deduct VAT, which brings the base price down to €49.50. Shipping is a bit dear, but even so, the total (to the US) is €61.65. (Alternatively, you can download the entire set in 44.1kHz/24-bit 5.0 FLAC, with a PDF copy of the booklet, for €47.89.)

I've heard 3 of the 8 volumes and I think they're excellent. Lively and sometimes unorthodox performances, with what I'd call an enveloping "chamber surround"--similar to what Morton Lindberg's 2L does.

Edit (P.S.): turns out Amazon.de also deducts VAT for non-EU orders. Who knew? (Probably everyone but me!) Total from Amazon.de, with shipping, is €50.95, currently $61.78. Cheap!

20% Off two albums in DSD Surround and DSD Stereo by pianist Vadym Kholodenko
Sale through Friday, September 7th with code AOTW

20% Off Album(s) of the Week!

NativeDSD's popular Album of the Week program continues this holiday weekend with a surprise!

Our Album of the Week is Prokofiev: Piano Concertos 2 and 5 performed by pianist Vadym Kholodenko with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra conducted by Miguel Harth-Bedoya. It's an excellent album in DSD Stereo and DSD Multichannel from harmonia mundi.

NativeDSD Senior Reviewer Bill Dodd says
"Kholodenko is excitingly dynamic in these concertos. Perhaps like the youthful Prokofiev himself. Excellent backing from Miguel Harth-Bedoya and his Ft. Worth players, magnificently recorded."

But there's more!

Vadym Kholodenko has also released an album of music composed by Scriabin titled Preludes, Etudes, and Sonatas. It's a fine album in DSD Stereo and DSD Multichannel - and a DSD Exclusive, not available on SACD release. We're celebrating the Labor Day holiday by adding this one to our 20% Off Sale this week. So it's really 2 Album(s) of the Week on sale. Enjoy the music and savings.

Both albums are available to our listeners at 20% Off with the code AOTW at the NativeDSD Music store through September 7, 2018.

Don't know if it's tranferable, but sure, why not??

Sweet; thanks so much! (That code applies a 10% discount to items in my cart.) I've not actually heard any of these sets, but they've been well reviewed, and the packaging is really attractive. And firsthand testimony from a fellow QQ'er always makes a difference...

I was a bit hesitant at first regarding the Beethoven boxset, but it is a marvelous item.. the mix is not SUPER discrete but it's mostly a "conductor mix"... and I really like Simon Rattle's conducting style..not too fast, not too slow.. just right..

Producer Robina Young writes: “As one who championed DSD and swam against the prevailing tide in the company for many years, I am delighted to see these releases surface at NativeDSD. This includes 3 albums that we recorded in DSD that are only available in DSD Stereo and DSD Multichannel (not available on SACD) from NativeDSD Music. These three DSD Exclusive titles are:
  • Scriabin: Preludes, Etudes & Sonatas performed by pianist Vadym Kholodenko
  • Bach: Partitas, BWV 825-870 performed by Richard Egarr on harpsichord
  • Philip Glass: In The Summer House with Angela and Jennifer Chun on violin accompanied by Nico Muhly on piano
I have indicated where we had a dedicated DSD engineer along as part of the team (Handel Concerti Grossi, Arvo Part Da Pacem). On all other DSD releases, album recording engineer Brad Michel did the DSD engineering and editing himself. Unless otherwise indicated I was both executive and sessions producer. Here are some of my most memorable DSD recordings.”

Producer Robina Young and Engineer Brad Michel take you into the DSD Studio of some of their most memorable DSD recording sessions. Visit the NativeDSD Blog to get the full details - and get ready for this 65-album event!

Not surround, but if you're a Peter Gabriel fan, TheMusic.com is having a sale on a whole bunch of live Gabriel CDs. These are all officially sanctioned and recorded from the mixing desk. Double CD sets from his 2003, 2004, 2007 & 2012 tours. They're on sale for as little as $5 each. I have a bunch and they're all quite good.

There's a website called Classic Select run by former MHS people that has some pretty good bargains, for instance the 4-SACD set of Nielsen's orchestral works with the NY Philharmonic for $12: https://www.classicselect.com/produ...n-mcgill-morley-hopkins?variant=8129286930538. I was a little wary of them, but my order arrived largely as promised (they didn't have two items in stock, got a refund for those).

Acoustic Sounds is having a sale(cough...cough)if you can find something that isn't price protected with promo code 10PERCENT

Cough, Cough, is er, CORRECT, Clinty. Everything should be 10% off. I'll take MY chances and wait until Christmas when they hopefully repeat their 50% off sale......last Christmas, they included almost 300 SACDs @ 50% off and even with their excessive s/h charges, it was still a GREAT deal....I managed to 'score' 15 SACDs...and a few were $40 list [for $20]!

But thanks for posting.
