This has been mentioned in Both Sides Now and Hoffman forums. Does "The Ballad of Todd Rundgren" on Ampex Quadraphonic 8-track actually exist or did someone mis-interpret something when compiling the Ampex album discography?

"A 10116 - The Ballad of Todd Rundgren - Runt [1971] This album has a Bearsville label. Produced by Todd Rundgren at Bearsville Studios. Released on quadraphonic 8-track tape as Ampex AMR 81016."

Oh my! The title of this thread made my heart skip a beat! This album was my introduction to the genius of Todd. It's still one of my favorites. It would be amazing if it had ever been issued in quad but I would be shocked if that were true. I've never seen anything to indicate that any of his albums were ever issued in quad. I believe that "Initiation" is rumored to have been mixed in quad but never released.

What is the significance of that photo? (It looks like The Carpenters!)

It's indeed KC ordering from the 'children's menu' at Wolfgang Puck's dazzling LA bistro, Spago! Richard settled on a 'happy meal' from the Golden Arches!

And Todd 'the Runt' Rundgren was MIA like his missing Ballad of TR Q8. In actuality, Karen and Richard are perusing the cover of TR's Ballad of TR gatefold Cover: https://fanart.tv/fanart/music/1a9a...the-ballad-of-todd-rundgren-5356fa2643bfc.jpg

So I can take this all as a big "no" to Quad Todd? :geek:
Also I think maybe I posted in the wrong forum. Sorry!

Nah Sparky you posted in the right forums....there's a few of our 8 track specialists that have not chimed in yet.....but Snood gonna go with most likely not or else we here would been all over it years ago :LB

And welcome toooooo QQ :SG

There's a listing for a stereo 8-track on Discogs that states "issued in a quadrophonic-style yellow shell, but is just the regular stereo version." Maybe that's where the confusion comes from.

And yes, Liars is fantastic. Easily my favorite Rundgren album of the 21st century.
That's the one I mentioned in my previous post/
