MMH 8 Beta 1 auto updated, no issues

In October 2025, Windows 10 will stop being supported by Microsoft so security will decrease from then on. Will the switch to Windows 11 cause any changes?

I've only Windows 11 on my Microsoft Surface, and my perfectly functioning 5 year old top spec PC will not support W11 so a new PC is needed (I'll keep the old one just not use it on the Net), so much for eco friendly computing
I'm running two main Windows 10 PCs and a NUC for my wife. None of them are valid for Windows 11, of course.

I do not want to migrate to new HW for some years more, unless the PCs break.

I understand that with the end of support for Windows 10, in October 2025, there will be no more "New Features" updates, but there will continue to be security patches for a few more years. Therefore security would not be diminished, or very little. Am I right?

Doesn't look like security updates will continue :(

It looks that you will still receive security patches after 2025 if you pay.
Price fee will double each year.

This does not seem too much if you want to stay with current HW for some more years. And the price for individuals, not for companies, could be even lower, some say.

Edited: or perhaps higher !

MMH 8 Beta 2 released

Version 8.0.0 Beta 2 (May 5 2024)
-------------
Fixes:
MMH Atmos Helper: Failed to decode Atmos in .m4a and .mp4 files (change in ffmpeg 7) - fixed (same error in MMH 7 not fixed)

Changes:
MMH Atmos Helper: Added new 'Prepend Silence' option when encoding (0.0 to 3.0 seconds) - new
Updated 3rd party UI controls to latest 23.2.6
Updated mp4box to latest git version 2.5 Rev 53

Here is the new 'Prepend Silence' option when encoding Atmos in MMH h Atmos Helper:

I've just uploaded MMH 8.0.0 Beta 2b and verified it downloads ok.

I had a user testing MMH 8.0.0 Beta 2a last night and there were no problems reported with the download.

I am downloading using the 'publish.htm' link which now gives an option to bypass the Windows 11 blocking of executable files introduced a couple weeks back:

This downloads and installs just fine for me in Win 10, with the usual (I'm paraphrasing here) 'unknown application, are you sure you want to install?' warning.

My next MMH work is around prepending Atmos silence to Atmos in mka, mkv, m4a and mp4 files to stop the beginning being skipped when an AVR syncs to the bitstream.

This should probably work for most players using HDMI passthrough like Kodi and JRiver but probably not work for Dolby Reference Player users as it will break the encode integrity check, which means it will also break the MMH Atmos Helper's Atmos Decoder since it use the DRP.

Sometimes if you switch to a different browser, you will have a better result. A couple times a month or two ago I had to use Chrome. Edge has been fine since, which is what I usually use.

I can't believe the the number of issues we've found updating a few components to their latest version in MMH 8::
Visual Studio 2022 17.10 doesn't build MMH (17.9 does)
mp4box 2.5 fails on files 2.4 is ok with
ffmpeg 7.0 fails with several undocumented changes over ffmpeg 6.1.1
Devexpress UI 23.2.6 won't create custom buttons - 23.2.5 and earlier does (could be a Visual Studio issue)

What a waist of about 4 days this week for me and its still not all resolved yet.

I try in my vsx 933, 1 sec?

I've just uploaded MMH 8.0.0 Beta 4

Fixes/Changes in MMH 8.0.0 Beta 4 over previous beta release:
Resample Tool: Input wavs always resampled to 16 bit - fixed @Jiko
Tag & Rename tool: In 8.0.0 Beta 3 'Select Files' button was not visible in Album row header - fixed
