Sad news today. Veteran mastering engineer Stan Ricker has passed away.

He is known for many, many famous albums that have passed through his mastering room over the years. Not to mention his work on a number of CD-4 Quadradiscs at the JVC Cutting Center in Hollywood and his work cutting albums at half-speed for Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs.

A true audio legend. He will be missed.

The times i got to speak with Stan he was honest and engaged. We chatted about Brad Miller a few times, he worked for Brad at MoFi for years. I liked the guy. He had the most experience of anyone in the cd-4 cutting room, and i am sure we should have done more pursuing his story. RIP Stan

Stan was a frequent contributor to the Phonogram email list in the late 90s. Near daily insights and info of masterings he did.
Lots of good stories too.
